Kozhi Curry (Kerala style)

A traditional Kerala style chicken curry. Cooked with a variety of spices and grated coconut milk. The real taste of the kerala kitchen. Try this easy recipe and enjoy the taste.


  • 1 Chicken cut into medium sized pieces
  • 12 red chillies
  • 1 bunch of coriander leaves chopped
  • 4 onions sliced
  • 6 cloves of garlic sliced
  • 1 piece of ginger chopped
  • 1/2 lime
  • 1 fresh coconut grated
  • oil and salt to taste

Grind Together:

  • 1 1/2 tbsp poppy seeds
  • 2 tbsp coriander seeds
  • 1/2 tsp cummin seeds
  • 1 inch piece turmeric
  • 6 cashew nuts


Soak the grated coconut in 1/2 cup hot water and extract thick milk
Then add 2 glasses of hot water to the grated coconut and extract thin milk
heat oil and fry the onions, garlic, ginger and coriander leaves
Add the ground masala and chicken pieces
Cook over a low flame till the chicken is well browned
Stir in the thin coconut milk and simmer for a while
Add the thick coconut milk and lime juice before serving
